It is slow to rise, like all jacks of this kind, but you can unscrew the top so you start with quite a bit of height, and actually only lift a small bit with the handle. If you fully extend both the top and the jack itself, this goes up quite high, 18 inches total. This should be more than enough for any needs. It was able to lift a heavier sedan without any issues, and doesn't lose height holding through the night. For most uses, this should be more than enough and at a great price, glad to have it for car repairs.

Right before a road trip.I went looking, and found these locally, bought my first AFF 4T.HUGE difference in build quality and size, and thickness.Jack's up quicker under load than all others I've had.I finally threw out the craftsman junk I've had for 39 years, and bought two more of these just recently , via Amazon.Slight Con's..Box was worse for wear, but the Jack and contents were fine.It's very heavy.These new 4T's come with a two piece jack handle.The new 3T and my old 4T have a 1peice jack handle, go figure.But you can order the one piece handle. IT feels sturdier.The new 4Ts are slightly different in how they are made, just minor differences. I think the older ones were ever so slightly heavier made in a few spots.The new 4Ts jack up even quicker under load than my old 4T. My older 4T is about 15years old and lifts the front of my 1T Dodge 4x4 with a Cummins in it , easily all by itself. As do the new 4T'ers. ★★★★★ Best Bottle/jack stand ever. I initially bought 2 and then I had to buy the other two from how great these are. Great system and is fail-proof with the locking mechanism, easy to operate and it also has a big base. You can raise a whole car within 5 minutes by periodically lifting each corner separately (you just have to be careful and know what you are doing).The downside is that you may have to lift a low SUV with something else before placing these jacks underneath due to the height, but these are the perfect size for any big and in my case lifted SUV, and also for tall vehicles with the extension mechanism.After, a year of periodical use the rubber holder broke in half (I knew this would happen since it's obvious that it will fail at some point due to the shape and how the side of vehicles sit as a blade on the rubber holder). I wish they sold these separately or that they had a metal version of these. That the only complaint that I have.Besides that with some regular (once a year) grease on the jack and mechanism as normal and expected, these are the best bottle jack/stands that exist. Certainly worth the price. I would certainly buy more if I ever had to, but Already have 4 and I don't need any more.

Directions are clear for those of us that are novice. Directions do indicate to chock wheels not being lifted and not to use as sole means of support for car/auto if working under vehicle. Sounds like solid advice. While this looks strong enough to support any of my passenger cars, I'd still use back up ramps.

He already had a couple of 12-ton jacks, but wanted this one due to it being lighter in weight. He tried it out and said it works perfectly and that it is all we need to lift our travel trailer enough to change out a tire or something of that nature.He likes that it has grooves on the bottom to help keep it from sliding or kicking out. He also appreciates the holes in the base for convenient storage of the handle. The only thing he found to nit-pick about is the little valve that you turn to raise or lower the jack. The valves on his other jacks stick upward at an angle while the valve on this jack sticks straight out. I don't suppose it would matter that much if you have the jack elevated off the ground on a piece of wood or something, but if it is sitting on the ground it could sink down into the dirt enough that it might be a little difficult to get to the valve. Regardless, he is very happy with the quality and performance.
